“世界杰出华人学者来访学术活动周”活动启动

为了活跃校内学术氛围,鼓励学术创新,促进我校与国内外学术界的积极交流和广泛合作,学校决定每年邀请海内外著名大学或研究机构的杰出华人学者来校举办“华中师范大学‘世界杰出华人学者来访学术活动周’”活动。

今年的华中师范大学杰出华人“来访学术活动周”将于1011日启动,届时香港中文大学崇基学院院长梁元生教授将应我校以及章开沅东西文化交流学术基金的邀请,来我校进行为期一周的访问讲学。

梁元生

教授简介

梁元生教授,生于1949年。1972年获香港中文大学甲等文学士,1974年获香港中文大学哲学硕士,1980年获美国加州大学圣巴巴拉分校哲学博士,之后在新加坡国立大学中文系任讲师及高级讲师七年。19871992年任美国加州州立大学洛杉机分校副教授及教授,19922004年任香港中文大学历史系教授,自2004年起任香港中文大学历史系讲座教授至今。教授曾经于1986年受邀为哈佛燕京学社访问学人,2002年任美国加州大学戴维思分校刘广京讲座访问学人,同年又受邀担任新加坡陈嘉庚基金会二十周年讲座主题讲员,2004 年又担任新加坡吴德耀纪念学术讲座讲员。1990年至2001年,教授曾先后担任美国加州州立大学亚太及亚美研究所课程主任及所长,香港中文大学历史学部主任及人文学科研究所所长。现任香港中文大学崇基学院院长。

梁元生教授是国际知名历史学家,研究领域主要集中于中国近代史、近现代中国的思想文化史及基督教史等,取得学界公认的卓越成就。其论著颇丰,主要有:历史探索与文化反思宣尼浮海到南洲、《林乐知在华事业与万国公报》文化传统的延续与转化等。目前,梁元生教授正致力于近代亚洲城市(上海、香港、新加坡)文化比较研究。

应章开沅东西方文化交流学术基金及华中师范大学的邀请,梁元生教授将作为2005年“章开沅学术讲座”教授以及“世界杰出华人学者”,于101116日在华中师大进行为期一周的访问讲学,讲座主要内容为:求索东西天地间——19世纪末至20世纪初期东亚知识分子的追寻;城墙与海水——近代中国城市文化的比较;香港历史学界的困境与契机中国基督教史研究的新趋势

Professor Leung Yuen-Sang

Professor Leung Yuen-Sang was born in 1949. He got his bachelor (First Class Hon) and Master’s degree in the Chinese University of Hong Kong respectively in 1972 and 1974. In 1980, he earned his doctor degree in the University of California (Santa Barbara) and then acted as a Lecturer and Senior Lecturer at National University of Singapore for seven years. From 1987 to 1992, Professor Leung was an Associate Professor and Professor at California State University. From 1992 to 2004, he acted as a professor of History in the Chinese University of Hong Kong(CUHK). Since 2004, he has been a lecture professor in the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Professor Leung was invited as a visiting scholar of Harvard-Yenching Institute. In 2002, He was the K.C. Liu Lecturer (UC Davis) as well as the Keynote Speaker of 20th Anniversary of Tan Kah Kee Foundation in Singapore. Moreover, he was the speaker of Wu Deyao Commenorative Acdemic Forum in 2004. Professor Leung also has rich administrative experience. Now he is the head of Chung Chi College of CUHK.

Professor Leung Yuen-Sang is a world renowned historian. His research interest focuses on the history of Modern Chinese Intellectuals and Culture, Christianity in China. He has published many volumes including Historical Inquiry and Cultural Reflection, Confucianism and the Singapore Chinese Community: Historical DocumentsYoung J. Allen in China: His Careers and the Wan-kuo Kung-paoCultural Traditions: Continuities and Discontinuities etc. At present Professor Leung is devoting himself to comparative study of modern asia city(Shanghai, Hong Kong, Singapore) cultures.

From October 11 to 16, 2005, Professor Leung Yuen-Sang will be invited as the 2005Zhang Kaiyuan Academic Forum Scholar” and “the World Distinguished Chinese Scholar” to visit Central China Normal University. He will give four lectures including “Transnational and Cross-cultural Experience of East Asian Intellectuals in Late 19th and Early 20th Centuries)”, "The Walls and Waters--A Comparative Study of City Cultures", "the Predicament and Opportunity of Historical Research in Hong Kong" and Some Recent Developments in the History of Christianity in China”.
